    Where is my database saved?

    Hello,

I used to have a stand alone version of Access on my PC and would regularly save my database file to a back-up device.

I now use Access via Office 365 and while it works ok I can't see where it is saved (if it is?) on my PC to carry out a back-up. Is it only held in the 'cloud' so as to speak and only accessible via Office 365.

    Thank you in advance
    Peter

if you want to take a backup of your database, from the File menu, click Save As, and save it wherever you want with whatever name you want to give it.

    many thanks,

Open Access, go to Options>General. Look at the property for default location. It should be there unless you chose some other folder when creating your db's. In that case, browse File Explorer or do a search there.

If you have your database open and go to the immediate window, you can type

    ?CurrentDb.name

It will show you the folder in which this database resides which is where it will be SAVEd.
If you want to place the database into a different folder, as Cottonshirt said - you can use SAVE AS and choose a folder.
