    Post Sharing the database file

    Hi,

I have two files that I use to manage my invoice system with.

one Excel file for the interface and one access database with the data.

What i am trying to do is so that multiple people can edit the database (through the excel file) using the internet.

Is there a way to do this?

The internet speed is perhaps 1/100th the speed of a LAN. I believe you will only find acceptable performance by using a Terminal Server system like Citrix. I would also question using Excel as a FrontEnd to an Access BackEnd.

I have not much experience with share of excel.
when i try to open a spreadsheet which someone else is using, Excel always tells me that I can only open in read only mode which means I can not save any change.

I do not consider Excel a viable FrontEnd for an Access Database, but that is just my opinion. Access is much more suited for this task by design and is inherantly multi-user.

    Thanks for your replies,

The reason I am using the Internet is because we are a small business with different employees around the country. Currently we are using Dropbox to distribute the files however we cannot see if it is locked and multiple people cannot use it at the same time.

We use excel as an front end because thats the way the program has been made (Office-Kit).

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
