Hi all,
I am creating a database for a small electronics company. I have attached an image of the relationships with all fields and tables showing. Basically the DB manages stock control. The problem is that there are 3 sides to the business that all want to use the same purchases order. The purchase order works fine for the main part of the business. It is linked to a stock table and supplier table so the user can select items of stock for ordering and supplier from a combo box. The problem I am having now is that for other sides of the business the items being ordered will not be in a stock table and so there will be no look up combo box for the items. I think possibly an "Other" category could be used on the items list combo box to open another unbound text box so a user may just type in the name of the item or supplier, but I'm not really sure how to do this.
Also for these miscellaneous items being ordered it will not be necessary to keep track of stock levels of these items.
Other than that the only other idea I had would be to create a separate transactions table and sub form for the purchase order.
Any advice on how to handle this would be very helpful.
