    OK,

I tried removing the code. I entered a new student. Now, when I open it, it opens to the first record "William Bradford" and the previous and next arrows are greyed out. However, If I use the First, Previous, Next buttons built into the form, it moves between records.

NavigationForm opens by default. Click on Create New Course Assignments. Focus is on new record but there are already 4 records and I have no difficulty navigating with the intrinsic navigation bar or the custom buttons. I removed the code and forms work fine. Focus is on first record.

You are looking at wrong navigation bar. That is for main form. Try resizing form window and maybe even app window so you can see subform navigation bar.

Main form doesn't even have data. You should disable its navigation bar.

Oh my gosh. I don't know whether to feel like a complete idiot or cry and give up. (I'll attempt to do neither.)

Thank you, it is working. I even works with "DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec" in the On Load event.

I was looking it the wrong Navigation Buttons. The Nav Buttons for the Sub-form were hidden from view.

Thank you all for your kind and patient help.

Don't beat yourself up. We've all been down a similar road.

I hope it's ok that I post a new question here but my db is already attached. When I save this dB as an ACCDR, two of the buttons on top "Create Student Lists" and "Video Training" do not work. When I click on them the Subform does not change. What is causing that, all of a sudden?

    Thank you!

I've never used any of the other forms of Access db files, only accdb. But I just tested it as an accdr and buttons work for me.

Here's a newer copy. Maybe screwed something up trying to fix that previous problem. The buttons work fine when I run it as an ACCDB but when I save and run it as an ACCDR, those two buttons don't work.

    They worked for me.

You need to add option explicit to ALL of your modules.

I noted you have invalid sytax for DoCmd.setwarnings. You also dont turn warnings back on.

I gather your from Ma. also. I'm in the Berkshires.

Downloaded new file. Changed file extension to accdr. All buttons work.
