    VBA Versions

    Good morning,

Someone left a Visual Basic 5 book (Visual Basic 5 Bible w/o the disc) on my desk yesterday. I'm not very familiar with VBA at all, but I'm definitely interested in learning more. Is this book still relevant? I know it's older, but is it at least a decent starting point still?

Visual Basic (VB) is not the same as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). There is some commonality, but you would be better off with a reference to VBA.
To complicate matters a bit more, different Office programs have there own specific dialects of VBA. VBA for Word, Excel, Access, Outlook have differing objects, functions and approaches to the end result.

I agree with davegri -look for vba not vb- there are several free youtube videos specific to vba.

Steve Bishop has a series here.
Richard Rost (599cd) has a 12 part series starting here.
M$oft has a vba concepts article here and a 2 part write up starting here.

vba is quite consistent across all versions

    Good luck with your learning.

And to complicate matters even more...some varieties of VBAs have functions with identical names...but which do different things, or require different syntax!
