    Duplicate records

    Hi,

I have a form with a subform for personal information.
How can I avoid adding the same person twice based on the fields of the name and birthdate?

I would use an unbound form with the name boxes.
    enter names
    it displays in 2 subforms
    sf1: exact match
    sf2: fuzzy match (like)

if that name is new , click a NEW button to open the bound form to finish adding data,

if one is the existing name, click an EDIT button to jump to that record:
    docmd.openform "fClientDtl",,,"[id]=" & me.ID

My main form is actualy bounded to a table.
I was thinking of a Before_Update event to check for the fields of: FirstName, FatherName, FamilyName and BirthDate to see if a simillar record exists and then show a message telling the user that the this person exists and go to that specific record in case editing is needed
