Editing a validation rule?

Hi peeps,



I have an existing database that appears to have a validation rule on a control field.

The error message I am getting states :

I understand from this rule stipulates that the maximum number of digits in this field is 8. Up until now that has been fine, but I now need to increase that to 10 as some system changes elsewhere are now generating longer numbers.

I want to edit this validation rule, but when I go to the property sheet for this field, and look in the validation rule field, it is blank. I've tried inserting a new rule into the validation rule field, but when I test it, it still limits me by the old rule, which doesn't seem to exist anywhere.



I have been googling around but I can't find any answers as to why the validation rule doesn't appear here. There is lots on creating rules, but almost nothing on editing existing ones. Can someone help me solve this or get around it? Is there somewhere else I should be looking for this rule? Why doesn't it appear here?

As the error message states, the validation rule is for the table. Look at the table in design mode and you will see it there if you select field MRN.

Didn't understand the difference, was looking in the form design view without realising. Thanks for the lesson!
