Append but do not add duplicates

    Hi guys,

How do I run an append query from my excel file (new data daily) to add records into a table on access BUT NOT include duplicate records? Some fields may have the same info. Or do I need to use an update query?

    Thanks guys

I assume you will have 2 situations.
    1. Excel records that do not exist in the database
    2. Excel records that do exist in the database (Duplicates)
How do you determine a duplicate? If any field in the table is unique, set its ALLOW DUPLICATES to NO and any matching Excel record will not be appended.
That may be a problem if you need to update existing records having the unique field. In that case, an update query will be required.
