How to Change users input to text field in AfterUpdate property

I have a field on a form called MatterNumber. When the record is activated, a number will automatically be entered into the field. The user will then add say AB, so now the field will read AB100. In the after Update, I would like the AB to change to Arctic Bear. Can this be done in an EventProcedure on the After Update Property. And How could it be done? Thanks...

You can have a table of letters and their associated words. Loop the characters and look up each non numeric character to find its related word.
