Autopopulate a form for updating a previous record

Apologies if this has been answered, I could not find my specific problem.

I have several forms for data entry for several tables, simple enough.

What would be nice, though, is for a user to be able to pull up an existing record and update the data. Do I need to create a totally separate form or can this be incorporated into the existing forms?

Ideally the user would search for, in this case, a batch number and all existing data would pull and then allow them to continue filling out the form.

    Make sense?

    Thanks!!

You should be able to use the same forms. Rather than setting the Data Entry property to yes, you can use the arguments of OpenForm to control it. You can open a form for data entry or use this to edit an existing record:

So if I change the property to OpenForm, it will pull previously entered data as well as allow for new data, yes?

I'm saying that OpenForm has arguments that let you control how the form is opened:

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vba...-method-access

so you can open it for data entry only, or to edit an existing record. You can open it with all records available for edit and/or data entry, but in practice that usually isn't done (not efficient to pull the whole table).
