I have lost the developer tab completely

    Hello Chaps.

I had a developer tab on the ribbon and I was trying to customize the ribbon
    by adding another item.
when I got stuck I selected "reset" at the customization button
It asked if it should reset to defaults and I said yes.
well it deleted the developer tab and now I cant find it anywhere
    Can someone help??

    regards

    fred

You should have a good backup of that database. Replace the changed one with that copy to get back to where you started. Then don't do the reset, just add the other item.

On what app? I don't see a 'Developer' tab on Access. Developer tab is on other Office apps but not Access.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

If that is the case, then code should still be in place, probably HTML in USysRibbons hidden system table, which means the custom ribbon would be selectable in:

File > Options > Current Database > Ribbon and Toolbar Options > select from Ribbon Name dropdown

Resetting to defaults would have removed that selection.

Also, if the db is opening with a custom ribbon selected, don't think can manually modify the ribbon to add another item, would have to modify the customization code.
