Merge fields not showing any data

I added some new data in the form of a table to my database. The data shows up in the query and I can add to the fields in the query, so the query seems to be working properly. But when I add merge fields to a document, these new fields do no provide any data. Am I missing something basic? Thanks for any insights.

I'm sorry but I do not know what "merge fields" are. Would you please explain for this feeble mind?

Are you using MS Word merge?
are you using the Merge Wizard?
I use it all the time and it works. What Access version? What Word Version?

It's difficult to say since your post is extremely vague. Perhaps you could give us a plain English description of your issue/approach etc, since we have little to work with. We need some context.

The product of the database is many word documents all containing mail merge data. I use vba code to merge the data. I have used the same code for many years. I am used to trouble shooting queries. I link many tables and queries to produce the documents that I need. If I can see the data in the query, and I don,t get any messages telling me the query cannot be updated, what reason might there be for all the rest of the date in the query appearing via mail merge except the new fields I have just added.

the database is office 2000 running on a 2007 version of office.

I can join the new data to existing queries and it works fine for forms and reports, but not for mail merge.

try the merge wizard from scratch MANUALLY, and see if the data shows.

I knew it was "shoot yourself in the foot day" yesterday. I had given my database too long a name, so the new merge was not happening....... thanks for suggestion, it showed me the error of my ways.

Just to complete this thread. I had named the fields in my new table, 6a, 6b, 6c etc. Naming conventions suggest not beginning a field name with a numeric. The 6 must have made a connection to the 6th column. Another hard won piece of the Access puzzle.
