Why does one file work and the other one fail

I have attached two zipped MS Access files to this post. One, with the *.mdb file extension run easily on MS Access 2010

even though it is not an *.accdb file. I cannot explain that. I would think that it would need to be an
    *,accdb file.

The second file is an *.accdb file and when I load and try to run it in MS Access, it fails with an error in the query.

Why is this happening? I used the *,mdb file and converted it using the software in MS Access 2010. But it will not
run. Instead it throws an error. I cannot understand this.

The file was originally in the *.mdb extension.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Respectfully,

    Lou Reed

only someone with access 2010 is likely to be able to help you with this error, but there are some known issues when converting an 'old' format to a new format. Most notably is around multi value fields and calculated fields (which should never be used but they still cause problems). Another surrounds text formats, for instance in .mdb formats you have 'text' in .accdb formats you *can* have 'short text' formats which (for me) has also caused some problems.

My suggestion would be to create an empty 2010 database. Then import all the objects from your 2003 version and see if you can get around the error that way.

it fails with an error in the query
I get the same 'error' in the query in both versions of your db - nothing to do with upgrading to 2010 - there is an error in your criteria (both db's), which access is prompting you for the value. The query was created and last amended in 2005 so it hasn't worked since then and I do not see how you can say

2010 will run both accdb and mdb for backwards compatibility
