Renaming database causes missing reference error

Merely by renaming my Access 2010 database I now get a missing reference. If I name it back to what it was, the reference is no longer missing.

Missing reference after renaming the accdb file: mscomm32.ocx

There is no reference to mscomm32.ocx before renaming the file.

Are you renaming it from an accdb to mdb? What is the before and after name?

Have you attempted to re-add the reference from the Visual Basic window? I have seen access drop references and links through renaming files (Mostly save-as renaming).

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
