Database Won't Open In Access 2016

I'm using Microsoft Access 2016 to edit a database. My coworker is attempting to access the database using Microsoft Access 2016. He gets the error message "The database you are trying to open requires a newer version of Microsoft Access". The "Click here to learn more about this error" message takes me to a page about Access 2007/2010 compatibility, which is not applicable.

Currently, I am running version 1610 Build 7466.2038 (32bit) and he's running Version 16.0.7070.2026 (32bit). I've never had Access be THAT version sensitive before. I'm not able to upgrade my coworker's computer as of yet because the IT department doesn't want to update the MS Office versions until some kind of vetting process takes place. My computer was a different batch, and so it got an updated version of Office 2016, which I didn't realize until this happened. Is this anything that anyone's run into before? Is there a workaround? A fix? A person I can punch?

To all, do not upgrade to 2016. Full of bugs.

Sadly, this appears to be the only fix: Go back in time and stop myself from upgrading to Office 2016. The paradox may cause an implosion of local space-time, splintering this universe into a myriad alternate universes where the laws of physics as we know them are no longer applicable, but it'll undoubtedly be better than this. Thanks Microsoft.
