Using a form to create a new record

I want to take the end result from my software which happens to be a document with many mergefields.

Recreate a form based on the query which creates the document and make this the basis of the data entry for a new record.

So from a users point of view, see output that I understand, do data entry in this output format, then produce the finished output.

This sounds too easy, but can something like it be done.

In other words, do I still need to think of data entry as a separate process, and then still run output as a separate process.

Yes. The form can hold data from a query, user enters data.
click a save button to run an append query to save all the form entries.

I had some success and made it work quite well with existing records, but when I try to enter a new record I get variations on expression typed incorrectly, or it is too complex to be evaluated. So I'm assuming that some of the data linls which are set up when I do the normal data entry process are causing it to break down at this point.

Thanks for your answer, you encouraged me to think that what I was trying to do was possible, and I finally managed to enter a new record. The data seems to go directly into the table as it is entered, so I wondered if there is an advantage to running an append query?
