Question Can Access work with Excel ?

I need to try and construct Access 2013 for a particular project, but it also needs a small calculation part to work - I assume that Access can't do calculations? If so, how could this be done? Perhaps by linking in with another programme?

of course access can do calculations - you use a query or if necessary, do calculations in a form or report

the important thing is to get your table structure and relationships right first. The principle is called normalisation which basically means a) data is not duplicated, b) calculated values are not stored (with a few exceptions) - they are calculated in a query and c) data is stored vertically, not horizontally.

Take a look through some of the templates provided to get the idea
