    Error message when importing

I am getting an #NUM! in my one field when I import a spreadsheet into the database. I am linking the spreadsheet and I think the error message is because the one field in the spreadsheet contains letters and numbers. Is there a work around in access to recognize the letters in that field.

it could be as simple as the display of that textbox control is too narrow....widen it and see if the number displays.....

TheShabz, the data field in the excel spreadsheet contains numbers and letters and it seems like the cells with both of these types of text are the ones coming through as NUM!

It may be an issue of Access trying to force text into num. Access will take the first entry in a field and choose the datatype based off of it. What I do on imports and links of/to Excel docs is add a row to the top of the spreadsheet and fill it with "test". this will force everything into a text datatype and you can change accordingly in the design view.

This also is a reason why I personally dont like to link to excel sheets unless absolutely necessary.
