adding a new field to a make table query

All, using access 2010. I'm having a brain...Is there a way I can add a field to a make table query and it so; How. I usually only work with calculated fields. But this user wants to add a field so they can add data if they need it. I don't want to add it to any of my existing tables. Thanks
