    Corrupted Databases

I am working on Access 2016. At times, when I try to open a database, I get a "program not responding" error. The vba modules of code still appear to be in the database, but they will not open. When I try to open one, I get a message "The module name (name of module) is misspelled or refers to a module that doesn't exist".

I have also gotten this message when trying to open the database: "The VBA modules in this database appear to have been saved with errors. Access can recover the modules, but you should backup the database first."

I have to go back to a backup copy of the program to resume use.

Does anyone know what could be causing the corruption?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

most common reason for this is a) not splitting the database and b) allowing users to share the same front end

Is the database split into FE/BE? Do you have multi simultaneous users?
If you are getting an error re a module, it seems there is an error reported by Access---best to resolve that.
I agree with Ajax re common causes. These are documented/reported on most forums.

I've had many problems with corruption and have had to learn a lot of hard lessons. To answer your question there isn't a easy answer or guidance without some more information about the environment. is it a split database, how dependable is the network if split. Does each user have their own copy if split or are there several individuals trying to use the same copy. There are many things that could be causing your corruption, but all the answers depend on your reply. Along with the link that Orange provided there is also some good information here

Corruption is a real pain to deal with but each time I've learned the hard way a valuable lesson how to eliminate one or two possible causes. The most important lesson was back it up as often as possible because there are times that its not able to recover.
