    data entry/edit form

    Hi

have a form based on a single table

    The form has the properties:

    Data entry No
    Allow additons yes
    allow Deletions Yes
    Allow Edits Yes
    No Locks

the fields on the form have the properties

    enabled yes
    locked no

the idea is that the admin can call this form and add, delete and dataentry edit a record

However when ever I mouse into a field I get the dreaded Microsoft Bong

    where have I gone wrong?

    thanks

    Ian

    Hi

    sorry I'm not being clear

I can edit and save a record but when I select the option to add a new record either using a buttom and macro or the navigation bar I can mouse into the field but when I press any key on the keyboard I get "Boing" and nothing is typed in.

I set up two buttons on a test form to call the edit form and via macros set one to window mode dialog, data mode add but that still does not allow me to add a new record

    cheers

    by 'Boing' you mean 'beep'?

Are you trying to edit an autonumber field? or a control bound to a lookup or multivalue field?

    Hi

point taken, the noise t' making is the Windows exclamation sound.

I'm not trying to edit an autonumber field or autonumber or multi value

However I have noticed that one field can be added on the form the rest can't

    clearly missing something

    thanks

    query not table

just been and created my form again and realised I have based my data entry form on a query based on two tables

I now realise I can add data to the fields from the first form but not the second.

    The relationship is a 1 to 1

    cheers

    Ian
