    Rajesh,

    I use a Private sub and a module to open a dialog box.

    Code:
    Dim strPathFile As String
    Dim strTable As String, strBrowseMsg As String
    Dim strFilter As String
    Dim blnHasFieldNames As Boolean
    ' Change this next line to True if the first row in EXCEL worksheet
    ' has field names
    blnHasFieldNames = True
    strBrowseMsg = "Select the EXCEL file:"
    strFilter = ahtAddFilterItem(strFilter, "Excel Files (*.xls)", "*.xls")
    strPathFile = ahtCommonFileOpenSave( _
          Filter:=strFilter, OpenFile:=False, _
          DialogTitle:=strBrowseMsg, _
          Flags:=ahtOFN_HIDEREADONLY)
    If strPathFile = "" Then
          MsgBox "No file was selected.", vbOK, "No Selection"
          Exit Sub
    End If
    ' Replace tablename with the real name of the table into which
    ' the data are to be imported
    strTable = "tablename"
    DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acImport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel9, _
          strTable, strPathFile, blnHasFieldNames
    ' Uncomment out the next code step if you want to delete the
    ' EXCEL file after it's been imported
      '  Kill strPathFile
        DoCmd.Requery

    Rajesh,

    I know their are some limits to Excel and Access, you may have to do it in chunks.

    If you are hitting the 255 field limit, then the data structure is probably not normalized and will cause many problems for you down the road.

    It is possible to specify a range for import with TransferSpreadsheet method http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ffice.12).aspx
    How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
