Subform check boxes unchecking when I leave for another subform

I have a form consisting of several sub-forms. One of the sub-forms has 5 check boxes. When I leave this sub-form for another, any boxes that are checked become unchecked within a few seconds. The check boxes are enabled and not locked. Anyone know what might be the issue?

Do you have Record Selectors Visible? If you can turn them on and view the information as it occurs. When a record changes to being editted/locked/available there is an icon that appears in the record selector. Beyond checking that you may also want to check the dirty state of the form when you exit.

Please explain Record Selectors Visible. I'm pretty new to Access so I don't know all the bells and whistles yet.

Update: I've found that the reason that the check boxes are going blank is because my subform creates a new record instead of editing the record that is open on the main form. When I click on the main record (subform loses focus) the subform goes to the record that it created a duplicate of and shows my boxes unchecked. Any help? Sorry if this is confusing.
