Excel time formated data (h:mm AM/PM) change to text when exported to Access

I am exporting the following data from a excel to the Access.

    Time_0710_Trunc RH_0710
    12:00 AM 94.7263
    12:15 AM 94.65
    12:30 AM 95.0827
    12:45 AM 94.9701
    1:00 AM 95.3646
    1:15 AM 95.4199
    1:30 AM 95.5101
    1:45 AM 95.8291
    2:00 AM 95.9522

The column "Time_0710_Trunc" when imported to the Access turns to Text formatted. Going to Design View, when I change the data type to "Date/Time" and format as "h:nn AM/PM", then all data are deleted (Error message - The Access encountered errors while converting the data) . Please let me know how I can resolve this issue. Thanks, Kundu

not an expert on importing excel documents into access but are you using the import wizard? if so you can specify each fields data type during the import wizard. have you tried this?
