    Shape of Buttons

Short trip: How do I set MS Access options so that the buttons are the latest style?

Scenic route: I have buttons on forms. When the form is viewed on my computer screen, the
buttons snuggle nicely into a consistent bank of buttons. The corners are slightly rounded.

When viewed from a cohort's machine, however, the buttons are a hideous mishmash. Buttons bulge
out from other buttons as if they were deliberately set "to come forward". The corners are
square. The entire bank looks like something built on Access '95.

How do I set my cohort's computer options to present the button bank with rounded corners et al?

Ranman256, thank you for responding. My cohort and I work in a corporate environment.
Our laptops, operating system, and applications are the same.

A couple of years ago I ran into the same situation. As I vaguely remember, I clicked on
an options setting and voila the buttons appeared as the round-cornered buttons.
    * I searched the Internet. Nada
    * I perused Access ==> File ==> Options. Nada
    * I checked Access ==> Design View ==> Controls. Nada
    * I checked Start for some kind of Classic setting. Nada

I even researched graphics cards but I freely admit I'm hardware ignorant.
So, I was hoping someone on the Access forum knew how to change the look.

Generally, when you run into this kind of thing, that problem is that the errant PCs have a different screen resolution than the machine used to design the app...is that the situation, here?

There are a number of hacks out there, to adjust for this, but the one thing common to all of them is that they work best when the development is done at the lowest screen resolution that will be encountered; in other words, they work best when upsizing the Forms, rather than shrinking them.

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!

Linq, thank you for looking at my query. Display resolution is not the culprit. Others have used the Access database and
the buttons appeared snuggly in a bank and had rounded corners. Resolutions varied with the strength of eyesight.

Perhaps the one user that's having a problem has a bad install of office?
Try running a detect and repair on office on his machine... sounds like maybe some files related to themes are missing or corrupt.

SSTieBreaker, thank you for responding to my query. Like your suggestion, but how do I run a detect-and-repair on office?
I looked up the topic on ixquick, but all the detect-and-repairs were for 2007 and older versions of Microsoft Office.

Control Panel > Programs and Features> select Office, click Change Button, choose repair option.
