    lost table in query

    Hi

trying to create an update query

So if I select "create Query"

Query builder appears with a list of my tables

I select two tables: tblDeceased and tblaustinmod

As expected both appear in the design window

I click on PLot,graveno,Mlink,Surname and inscription in the tbl deceased
and as expected they appear in the lower window

My aim is to update the inscription field on the basis that
    the plot,graveno,Mlink and surname match.

I selected the update button and the lower screen now gives me the option "update to"

In the lower window i start to type tbl ( in the update field) and the ususal list of
    tables appears but not tblaustin.

Next I dragged between the to mLink fields to create a link ( in the top query design window)

But still the tblAustin does not appear in the link.

If I double click on tblaustin it opens a d displays all records
I saved and compacted the database but still no tblaustin is shown in the list

    HAs anyone any ideas?

    thanks

    Ian

once you have joined the 2 fields,
you must fill in the UPDATE box to the item you want updated.
so to update the field tblDeceased.name, bring down tblDeceased.name onto the grid,
in the UPDATE box, type in the name of the OTHER table field in the UPDATE box: tblaustinmod.name

this will change all tblDeceased.names to tblaustinmod.name where the 2 linked fields match.
