Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.

Microsoft Access 2000 (Old version: I know, I know, I know...) All I got right now on this old XP workstation.

I get this error whenever something goes wrong with my VBA code, although I haven't determined just what as yet. (In a vague sense problem manifestation is a bit like dealing with a "corrupted file"). I can work around the problem by removing all trigger code from all objects and then adding controls and event code on each object all over again...! Needless to say, I might not outlive such an approach. So... Looking for a way to finish this project in Access 2000 on this old XP, then importing it to Access 2010 on my Win10 workstation. Tweak it from there.

Cannot find anything related in MS Access (2000) Help or in two or three aftermarket texts. My guess is that this is an Access configuration problem and could be resolved by configuring the installation as a standalone (single HD) rather than network-based. But I'm not at all sure. Only an uninformed guess.

Any help at all would surely delay further irritation of an already overactive ulcer...

Is this split into a Front End/Back End configuration?

What, exactly, do you mean by 'network based?'

    Multi-user databases need to be:

    1. Split into a Front End/Back End configuration
    2. All Tables go into the Back End
    3. Everything else goes into the Front End
    4. A copy of the Front End goes on each user's PC
    5. The Back End goes on a shared drive

Any other setup, such as sharing an non-split db that resides on a shared drive, or sharing a Front End from a shared drive, will cause all kinds of problems, including that which you are currently experiencing.

Of course, you could just be loosing your network connection!

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Subject problem occurring within d/b under development. Not shared, not split. Single user. Recent clean MS Office re-installation to make sure I hadn't inadvertently corrupted any associated libraries, e.g., VBA.

    Thx,
    Cliff

Anyone know how to obtain MS Access 2000 SR-1/SR-1A? Link to relevant MS Support broken (545025). I have the original MS Access 2000 product on CDs.

    Many thanks,
    Cliff
