update a table from an unrelated table

    Hi

just want to clarify this please.

I have a table with numerous fields

I've been presented with another table which contains some fields the same name and value

ie both have Surname, Forename, Plot and GraveNo

IN the new table there is an extra field added named RefNO.

I was going to run an update query ( after creating RefNo in my table) using as criteria matching Surname, Forename, Plot and GraveNo.

Do I have to create a relationship between the two tables to do this?

    thanks

    Ian

Relationship in the Relationships window is not required.

Manually set links in the query.
