Tables relationships - front or back end?

I have a database with a front and back end. I was wondering should the relationships be set up in the back end, or the front end linked tables, or both?

Assuming just one BackEnd then put the relationships in the BackEnd. If the system had more than one BE and there were tables in different BE's that related to each other then *that* relationship would need to be defined in the FrontEnd.

and maybe you could clarify something else for me on the subject of relationships. since relationships can always be defined in queries, is there any reason to also define them in the relationships window (other than referential integrity as it relates to data entry).

I would say it also better documents the database for someone to maintain later on. It also will insert the joins into the query builder if the relationship has already been defined.
