saving access database to local drive

I have a client who opens an access 2010 database fine and can select any data within the database ok. When he goes to close the file he gets and error message:

Could not use 'C:\Users\username\Documents\Pmaster\databasename. mdb'; file already in use.

I have compacted and repaired the database and when I open and close the database on a different machine there is no problem.

Is this a split database, or is it non-split and multiple users accessing it?

I found this, but it refers to ACC2003/7. See if it applies.
