Question saving records without null or empty fields

I have some problems with my english but please help me with this:

I have a subform where i have the name of the medical exame, the date when it must be done and i must bring the price from another table before i can save the record. it cannot be saved with the price null or empty.

How can i make the sistem get the price and put it in this subform, display a message if the price doesnt exist telling the user to put it before click to save it, before save the record, and dont allow this record to be saved without the price?

I hope i have make myself clear on this.....

The most reliable method is to make the field required in the table. You can also use the before update event of the form:
