Default Value Question

I have a Date1 field and I want to create a Date2 field in the same table, wich will show the date from the Date1 field, but in some cases user can overwrite it. If anyone can help, I will appreciate a lot!

On your user form add [Date1] and [Date2] controls. For [Date2] default value use [formname].[Date1]. this should work. If user does not overwrite it it will hold the default value of [Date1]

BUT it doesn't work!!!
Any other ideas? Will appreciate a lot!
Both Date1 and Date2 from the same Table General, maybe it doesn't work because of this?
