I had no problem converting my 2003 file to 2007 when we upgraded. Then went from 2007 to 2010 without issues. I am terrified of going to 2013 or higher.

I think the FE must be higher or same version as the BE.

If none of my suggestions work will require VBA code to dynamically set Image control Picture property - as suggested by ItsMe. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...aa8947d?auth=1

I just realized that it'd be so much easier to store all the pictures on the main server, and just provide a link to said picture on each individual's data. Then link is clicked, and picture opens in third-party application.

True, but also nice to eliminate 2 clicks - one to open image and one to close. And cluttering desktop with multiple open image files.

Agreed, that's why I was hoping to get it to just show the image for each employee. But I also have to bear in mind that if I were to create one for each employee, I'd be well over the 2-gig limit.

I would not think only 100 employees and small (<= 100KB each) jpg or png or bmp files would use up 2GB.

However, there are the other options that don't embed images.

This is getting (has gotten?) ridiculous. I'm trying to add a hyperlink-type field, into which the path to the individual's picture will go. I did so by just creating a new column "Picture", making it hyperlink-type, and saving the table. Then I switched back over to the front end, went to design mode on frmEmployee, which uses tblEmployee as it's control source, remember, and "Picture" isn't one of the options as control source when I make a new text box.

I want to see what all my options are, so I hit alt-F8, and the place I find "Picture" isn't on tblEmployee, where I can clearly see it when I open that table, but instead it shows as being on a table ~TMPCLP104681.

Why isn't it showing as being part of tblEmployee?

When I try to add that as the control source, I get a missing parameter error asking what ~TMPCLP104681.Picture is.

I've never experienced this before. In the past, when I created a new column on a table, it was immediately available as the control source for the item I'm working on.

Not familiar with that either. Thinking corruption.
