    reports vs queries?

for all practical purposes, is it more effective to create actual reports to get lists of members, committees or events or should I do this with printing query results?

What do you mean by "more effective"? You want paper output?

you can print a query if you want - or a table. But if you want headers, footers, datestamping, any degree of formatting, etc then use a report
