if dates are column headings you should be able to get to them by the control caption property or perhaps the control name property. This really is just a way to patch a bad design, you will get problems and with all due respect I'm not in a position to help with the detail.

Back to your house building example. If you build many houses, they would all have the same tasks: install flooring, install plumbing, complete woodwork, etc.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

I can't go into detail on what the type of work is, but there is only one project--one contract and we are finished with the work. This database applies to all of the activities required to make that project happen. They are specific tasks and not generic.

As @Ajax said above, this might not be the best design, but all I am trying to figure out at this point is if it possible to have a report with 8 text boxes with a control source that can be specified by the user in the form.

Well, yes, but won't be simple.

    Options are:

    1. Conditional expressions in textboxes using IIf() or Switch() functions.

    2. Textboxes on report call function that returns appropriate value.

    3. Write records to a 'temp' table (table is permanent, records are temporary) and bind report to the temp table. Fields will be named like Field1, Field2, Field3, etc. Bind textboxes to these generically named fields.

    4. Programmatically build report, this means code opens report in design view and sets properties of controls, saves report design, then opens report for data output.

Went with #3 and named 8 textboxes on the reports with the generic field names. Using a dummy query and some code to assign selected dates to the textboxes in the reports, it now works!
