    mdb to online

    Hi
I have developed a access based database software which is offline currently. I am very basic developer with all information and knowledge collected by a self learning online. Thanks for forums like accessforums.net. My question is how easy or how difficult it is for a software like I have to publish online for users?

    Thanks
    Ash

A very wide subject and depends on exactly what you mean - are users the general public, all within an organisation or what?

A simple solution is to move your front end and back end to terminal server or citrix - fine for an organisation and comes with a licensing cost although the system will run significantly faster compared with a backend on the network. Very little rework required

click a button and convert vba to html? - not going to happen

Access backend on the web? can be done, but better to use sql server or MySQL. Access front end probably needs rewriting and has much less functionality

Look at MS Azure - need to make changes and comes with a cost

    Look at Sharepoint

    hi
It will be for specific group of people in public not one organisation. I am quite interested to give it a go and try my best to do it. Although I don't have ability for html or vba. I guess its not simple uploading the back and front end on sql server?

No! I would google the options I have suggested so you can see how easy or difficult (or even possible) it will be to convert.

Oh dear, I think I should hire a developer team to do all this.

perhaps you should - a developer does it for a living so will a) know these things or at least know where to look/what to ask and b) will get it done quicker and probably better than someone less experienced

there are other things to consider as well - such as security. Whilst everything in on your equipment it is unlikely to be hacked - and if it is it will be by someone you know, but once on the web the whole app becomes a potential target by persons unknown.

If you have the budget, terminal server is the easiest way to go
