Upgrading from Access 2010 to Access 2013

I have an access database that was designed in 2010. One of the most useful features is the use of Macros...all of which I designed using the user friendly GUI interface (and no SQL or VBA).

However, I have noticed that I can't run these macros in Access 2007, and I also read that Access 2013 will not likely allow me to run the macros.

    (1) Does anyone have any experience attempting to run Access Macros in 2013, even if the Macros were originally designed in 2010? Should I avoid upgrading to Access 2013 (or 2016) and plan to stick with Access 2010, perhaps?

    (2) Also, would you recommend that I use MySQL or some other database option, rather than Access. In case it helps in giving me some good advice, I have about 10 large tables, and I have a daily routine that requires me to update one column in all of the tables, and then to run a few comparative queries on those tables, and then to export all of the updated tables to separate txt files.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Personally, I think 2013 takes away more than it brings new, unless you want to do web delivered database and operate in 'the cloud'. Fortunately, what is taken away aren't features I used.

Are the macros giving issue embedded ones?

Thanks very much for the response. What exactly are "issue embedded ones"? I have not heard that phrase before.

There are general macros and embedded macros. Which is causing the issue?

Thanks Ranman. I can actually run the macros, I just noticed. However, if I attempt to change the design (in Access 2007) I get an error message that reads:

Microsoft Access cannot change the design of Macro1, The minimum required version to change the design is 14.0.0000.0000.

Does this mean that I cannot revise Macros I designed in 2010, if I am using 2007?

FYI, these are standard, non-embedded macros. I went to Macro, Create Macro, and then chose options such as OpenQuery, ImportExportDataSheet, etc to select the steps for the macro.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
