    Split DB with BE encryption

I have split my DB and put the BE in a shared network folder with an encryption. However the front end does not open. When clicking to open it, it just takes me to the Access Home page. I'm using the database split in Access 2007. Am I doing something wrong?

I am not familiar with the process in 2007 but there is a wizard to split a DB in 2010. Did you use the wizard? How did you edit/create your Front End file?

If you need to encrypt and split the DB file, I would probably run the Wizard to split before encrypting. Either way, I would not expect the results you have.

with a split application where you have encryption on the back end. you need to recreate all your linked tables in the front end (not just relink)

however sounds like your front end does not have a default form to open (go to file>options>currentdb)

My default form is the login form. However, once I apply the password on the BE I cannot open the front end to recreate all my linked tables. I am trying to add a screen shot but it won't let me. Also, I did use the wizard. Database Tool > Access Database > Split Database. Saved the backend to our network shared folder. Saved the FE in a shared folder on my pc. Opened BE exclusively encrypted with password. Closed it. Opened BE using password. Tried to recreate and relink FE but when I went to open, it just took me to the Access home page still. Maybe something in my modules?

So you went to the FE file that was generated by the wizard? Did it work before encryption? Maybe remove encryption to test; if you do not have copies to recreate.

The only other thing I can think of would be to use the shift key to bypass things. However, it seems you are already considering that code/macro is causing issues.

ItsMe...It was working properly before the encryption and after I removed the encryption. Unfortunately I can't use the bypass feature because I disabled it. Users listed as Admins can turn it off once they login but it doesn't even get to the login screen. I guess I will decrypt, turn on the bypass, then encrypt again and see if I can open it using the shift open.

Just thought of something else. Maybe you can, from the Home tab/Backstage thing, use the Open button to open a new file, navigate to your FE and or BE and select the file. Before clicking Open, use the little arrow in the Open button to select the option that is not "Exclusive"

Maybe try that before and or after opening the FE. In other words, close all instances of the BE and then open up Access (the application Access to get to the backstage). Then use the Open file technique on the BE file.
