Question New info. into combo box going right to table.

    OKay,
I have been trying to find an answer to this the whole day..... I have a drop down box that is listed as a combo box. I have it set up so that if what I am looking for isnt in the box I can add it. What I would like to do is have it so when I put something in the drop down box it stays and adds it to the next row in the table that is set up. Right now what I am having to do is add it to the drop down box if its a new item, then switch pages and add it to the next line in the table. Isnt there a way to cut out this last item?

I'm not sure I'm following, but search for "notinlist" to see if it's what you're after. It is a method to add new items to the underlying source of a combo box.

Yes I want to be able to add new items to the drop down but I want it to automatically enter this information into a table that I have as well. I have a database set up and one of the cells is called descriptions and has a drop down bow where you can either pick one in there or enter a new one. Well if I have to enter a new one it doesnt enter that info onto the table where all the choices you see for the drop box are listed. Right now I have to go to this table enter new item there and go back to the drop box and enter it there as well. I want to do it once in drop box. Any ideas?

Yes; perform the search I mentioned. The Not In List event of the combo can be used for that purpose.

I searched for the Not in List info you suggested but its not telling me which one would pertain to adding it to a table last. Im not really that good at Access so I am having a hard time finding it. Sorry.

Will you be adding a single value to the table, or more than one? In other words, is there other information that needs to be added to the underlying table along with the value typed into the combo, or just that value?

No, I guess just that one. I might enter white paint in the drop down box so I would want white paint to automatically update on the table. I probably am not making sense.
