Lookup field appear as a number instead of text in report chart

Hi,

I have a table that has a lookup field (Job title) linked to Jobs table. The data type appeared as "Number". However, in the table the text value appeared. I created a query and added the job title field and it also appeared as a text, however, when I created a report and added a chart displaying job title data, the data appeared as numbers instead of text.

I've been struggling with this for days now, how should I fix it?

sounds like your table is using a lookup field

how to fix it? change the lookup field back to a straight text box - they you know what you are looking at and can design your queries properly - here is why lookup fields should be ignored

just think how much time you would have saved if you hadn't used a lookup field

the alternative is to change the control on your report to a combobox with the same rowsource and settings as in your lookup field
