Expression in Query results in numeric value instead of field description

I have a query that includes information from many tables. Part of the query is a concentration expression that looks something like Example: a & b & c. This expression works fine as it is based on data from a spreadsheet that is imported and updated from time to time. I have another sheet that uses a one to many relationship with the sheet previously mentioned. In this sheet I have a lookup combo box that displays information based on a look up query. The data shows just fine in this table. It even shows up with the description text in the query. However, when I try to add that portion to the concentration string Example: a & b & c & d, it returns the number value. I'm not sure how to identify the column to return in the query expression, although I don't think I should need to. Any idea on what's going on?

Sounds like you've used a lookup field:

I agree with your response. I'm going to post a new topic, because I believe the problem may be more of a root cause with my database design.
