Open Form with information from previous form

I know this is probably pretty simple and I am sure I have found the answer before but I am trying to open one form (Project) that is linked to another form (Site) via Site_ID. I need to enter data into the Project form and populate its associated Site_ID field with the selected site from the Site form. This work fine if there is already a record in the table of the Project form but not if there isn't one yet and a new one has to be created.

    Thanks for the help.

Here I have a simple example. Open site Form. When you have a have a entry in the project form the command button will open that entry other wise if there is no record in the the project form a blank form is opened and the site_id of the project Form will be populated by the value of site_id in the site form.

Mark the thread solved if this solves your problem.

    Project form doesn't work

Thank you for the attempt to answer, unfortunately, the project form doesn't work. I get the error: "You can not assign a value to this object." I hit okay and the form is blank.

Should not happen try copying the code on to another form. Try opening it as Access 2000 Database and see

It worked when I put it in a new database. Thanks. I will see if I can get mine to work based off this example.

I wish I could...I get the same error when I try to apply it to my own form. I will work more with it and see if your fix will work.
