Counting in a given date range

I'm trying to count the number of time a person enters data in a given date range.
I have something like this:

as my command button action but I need to modify it slightly to count items and I cannot figure out how to do so.



Any ideas? Thank you.

Options:

1. aggregate query

2. build report using Grouping & Sorting features with aggregate calcs in header/footer section

In either case, apply filter criteria as needed.
