How to change status of student

Hi, I am working on a Student database for a school. Need help on changing the student status e.g. A student was enrolled in class Prep. and now promoted to grade 1. How do I solve the problem. I need this for a report (Student Details) Like on 1/1/2014 the student was enrolled in prep and on 1/1/2015 he/she was promoted to grade 1.
This may be a funny question for many of you but I am not a professional programmer and also new to Access. Please help

thanks for your time.... My schema is almost the same as yours., I might have missed to clarify my question. What I am missing is I need my reports to show full profile of student (like a running balance) e.g. Student A was admitted on Jan 1st, 14 promoted to the next level on Jan 1st, 15, and then promoted to the next level/grade on Jan 1st, 16 and so on.
I have another table "Status Change" with Student ID, StatusChange ID, StatusChange Date, ChangeFrom and ChangeTo grades fields. what happens is access overwrites on the dates. So Student A 1st change is overwritten with the 2nd and the 2nd with the third. And I wanna get something as follows:

ABC Public School Systems
Student Profile
Student Name	: A	DOB: mm/dd/yyy	Ph. No.: 999-999-9999
Date Enrolled:	1/1/2014	Class Enrolled:	Prep
	Status Changes sub form
	Status Change Date	Change from	Change to

If dates are being overwritten then you are editing existing record. Go to new record and enter data for the new promotion.
