querying on a number field using a string

    Good night all.

I have a field of numeric data type in my table. This field contains numbers as well as blanks. in my query I want to return all records with blanks. I tried this by using 2 quotations marks like so "" but what I get is a message saying invalid data type. Is there a means of getting around this problem?
