Multiple records assigned to one Employee

    Hello,
I have a database where I am tracking software. I am using the Microsoft access 2003 Asset Managment database as a starting point.
I have a form whare I select an employee name from a drop down list. I can then select the Vendor, Asset Category, Status, Software Name, and department from dropdown lists. There are a number of other fields that I enter data in as well.

I have a subform that has the default that has the Maintenance, Depreciation, and Comments forms on the subform. I have added a new tab (Software) that will list all the software that is assigned to any given user.

My problem: I don't know how to clear the form, except for the Employee name and the record in the subform, but I do want to add an additional record in the subform.

    Example:

    Employee Name: Joe Smith
    Vendor:
    Asset Category:
    Status:
    Software Name:
    Department:

I want to clear all of these fields except the user name.

I want to enter a new vendor, asset category status, software name, department, and the other data needed and have the Software Name, Version, and build show as a second record in the subform. Any thoughts are welcome :-)

Do you want to CLEAR the data, or ENTER NEW data? you say both.

If you want new, there should be an asterisk * at the bottom record datasheet, click there to add.
If you want to clear, select all fields with the record selector, press delete.

    Hmmm, I don't think I was clear.

I want to clear the fields on the parent for except for the Employee name.

I don't want to clear any fields in the subform.

The form is used to assign software to an employee
The subform lists all the software that the employee has been assigned

So I would like to add multiple software titles to an employee through the parnt form while it updates in the subform.

Solved, was trying to do to much on one form. Removed the subform and will create an Employee "view only" form with related software titles.
