Access 2007 pdf output: hyperlinks don't work if they are in a group header

I have 2 hyperlink fields for names eg bios for Elvis Presley, 2 for label eg RCA Victor, and 2 for specific recording eg Hound Dog. If I do a simple PDF report with no grouping, opening the pdf allows me to click all 6 hyperlinks and get to the web page.

However, if I do a grouping PDF, say on Name or Record company, and in that group header I put in the year born/died, and also the 2 respective hyperlinks ie bio link for name or name or record company, the PDF output shows the link in color, but the PDF is not recognizing it as a hyperlink to click on and no popup showing the link But all the hyperlinks in the detail line do work

It's an inconvenience, because if I move say the two hyperlinks for RCA victor down to the detail, it will be recognized, but the hyperlink for RCA Victor will appear in every line item for all artists with RCA records. Very clumsy

RCA Victor bio#http://etc# (this link doesn't work and no popup of address)
...Hound Dog Presley, Elvis bio#http://etc# por#http://etc# (this work)
....Strummin Atkins, Chet bio#http: etc# works
...Teen Time Nelson, Ricky bio#http: etc# works

It's could be something within the way Access formats PDFs. Anybody tried to do this? It also fails if output is to html. Thanks in advance

Just tried to replicate the issue. Can't. Hyperlink in group header works in the PDF.

If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Thanks for the help. You put me on the right track for isolating the problem. The problem is fixed. It's very subtle because a hyperlink in a group header does not behave the same as a hyperlink in the detail.

    1. Assume hyperlink format is wik#restoflink## and is displayed in datasheets/reports as a field 3 characters wide to save space
    2. There's a property setting which I didn't notice called Is hyperlink. This is set to no when you create a text box
    3. Despite being set to no, the hyperlink in the detail line shows wik or whatever abbrev no matter how wide it's sized. That is, it correctly shows it as the 3 character name of the hyperlink. The popup shows the full URL, and it correctly goes to the URL.
    4. However, in the Group Header, it does not behave this way.
    (a) If the hyperlink is sized 3 characters wide, it does not show the popup and does not go to the URL
    (b) If the field is sized wide enough, it does not show wik like in the detail, but shows wik#restoflink## but at least it will then go to the url and show the popup url
    (c) However, if the Is hyperlink property setting for the Group Header hyperlink is set to yes, then only wik shows and the URL works no matter how wide the spacing
    5. In creating the report, I copied the hyperlink from the detail to the Group Header, changing the source, but not realizing I was carrying along the No setting
    6. The solution is to set Is Hyperlink to Yes for Group Header links, and despite not being required, do the same for the detail hyperlinks
