    Question Problem deleting record

    Hi

I have used an Append Query to Archive some data. The data I have transfered, I would like to delete from the original table.

I have tried to create a delete query (which shows the correct data when I look at the sort table). But when I run the query, it shows "No Current Records"

I have looked at the original table and had a go at deleting each record one by one. Some of the records show "No current record" is this why my query is not working? and how do I get rid of these troblesome records?

    Please help!

    Thanks

Do you think you could show the table with a small sample set of the data you are trying to delete, and the design view of the delete query?

Sorry, I'm very new to all this. How can I give you a sample?

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

Unable to read the text in your Query Design's image. Any way you can expand the columns, crop the image, and attach again?

Also...can you attach an image on what you mean by "no current records"?
    Thanks.

Avoiding the Use of Reserved Words in Access

    Vikki,
First thing I notice is that two of your field names are on Microsoft's list of reserved words in Access. Reserved words are not to be used as field names, object names, and/or variable names in Access.

Click here to see the list from Microsoft.

Try copying your Table (Structure and Data) and Paste as a new Table.
Rename any field names that are reserved names in Access. Create a NEW delete query and see if that works. Then, see if you can delete some records manually.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes I see about the named fields. This is a database that I have inherited and have been asked to expand. There were over 150000 records and I have manually archived down to 17000.

I know tha if I save as a new table I am able to delete the problem records. My other grey area is that there are existing forms in use with this table and reports of those.

If I save a copy the table as a different name, delte any records I don not require then save back to the original table name, will this work without having to amed the other forms and reports?

Sorry if my tech speak is lacking.

    Regards

The copying and pasting of your Table was only for trouble-shooting purposes.
IF...by doing this, your issue is resolved...I am not sure how else to resolve it without you having to rename ALL reserved words from your database (field names, object names, variables, VBA, Macros, etc, etc.)
Perhaps someone else in the Forums may have another suggestion.
