How to open form in a separate window (also separate on windows taskbar)?

    Hi,

at this moment, when I open let's say "Add product" button (to open "New product" form) it kind of open in new window (I have pop-up property selected) but on windows taskbar there is only one icon:

Size:	12.0 KB

I would like to have there 2 windows - 1 for every form currently open (so 1 for "Main form" and 1 for "New product"). Thanks to this, user could easily switch between those windows.. How do I achieve that?

Your only going to have juts one icon per instance of Access being opened.

Within one Access window, you can have all the forms as Popups. You won't get two taskbar icons, but your users can move the Access internal windows side to side. When they minimize, they'll be on the bottom left of the parent Access window.

If you really want two taskbar icons, then I can think of one hassle of a workaround. You basically would have to open the form in another instance of Access (i.e. opening the form in a 2nd copy of the database, or a database with that separate form and links to your tables) and then from your main database, open that separate database file. With two instances of Access running, you'd have to make sure each user turns off taskbar icon grouping. There are probably other issues with trying to do this.

I suggest just making your forms popups.

Yeah well, my forms are already popups.. It works ok this way, but if Access window gets minimized to taskbar and then back up again, all forms are in mess.. I mean both "main" and "add product" forms are set to "Restore down" and I prefer "main" form to be always maximized, so user could easily tell it's a parent window. Can I maximize "main" form when Access gets restored/maximized?

Can't really test your situation since I never do this myself. Still, you could try using the Focus Event and see if it works for you.

I'll give it a try later. Opening forms as separate access files is not an option to me - too much hassle and too unpredictable results. It's such a shame that there's no other way.
    Thanks guys.
