Contact DB "Find" button not working...

    Hello all,

I have attached my Contact database. Do you know why the “Find” button doesn’t work? I try to put my cursor into the “Company” field, and do a “find”. We only have 3 contacts right now, and they are test contacts. The third contact’s “Company” field says “college”, so I tried searching “college” in the “Company” field, and it did not find her record!

Hoping you can help? THANK YOU!

Because you are searching in a subform. The subforms synchronize with the main form by linking on the ContactID PK/FK fields. Regardless of the filter or search criteria you use for the subform, it can only show records associated with ContactID of the main form. Therefore the Find button is working properly - no records in the subform match the given parameter. Advance the main form to the third record and then try the Find.

Did you build this db from scratch? Did you look at the MS Contacts database template? http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...001225343.aspx

Oooh got it. I didn't even think of that! OK so there is no solution, except to build my database differently? That Microsoft database sample is very nice!

You could maybe have a form set up just for searching all the related data. The RecordSource would be a query that joins tables. This would likely not be an arrangement for data entry purpose.

I have downloaded the Access 2007 Contacts database. It does not seem to work with the Access 2013, Windows 8 programs I have. I cannot find a way to modify the Form. How can I learn this?

AFAIK, it should work with 2013/Windows8 but since I have neither, I cannot verify.
